Plasma surface modification of glass fibers on a basis of organosilicones
Veteška, Jaromír ; Salyk, Ota (referee) ; Čech, Vladimír (advisor)
This thesis is aimed at preparation of thin plasma-polymerized films deposited on glass fibers by Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PE CVD) from a mixture of tetravinylsilane (TVS) and oxygen gas. Plasma-polymerized films which were deposited on silicon wafers were used to characterize chemical properties and optimization of deposition process with respect to reproducibility.
High Performance Polymer Composites
Bábík, Adam ; Lapčík,, Lubomír (referee) ; Prokeš, Jan (referee) ; Čech, Vladimír (advisor)
High performance polymer composites are materials with emphasis on specific chemical and mechanical properties due to their broad scope of applications. The main advantages are high strenght and toughness in comparison with their low weight and density. An increased adhesion at composite interfaces is important to ensure excellent composite properties. Bundles of glass fibers were coated by plasma-polymerised interlayers of tetravinylsilane (pp-TVS) of different thicknesses and at different effective powers. The prepared interlayers of pp-TVS were analyzed to evaluate chemical composition (RBS, FTIR, XPS) and mechanical properties (NI-AFM). Microindentation test and fiber-bundle pull-out test were used to determine the interfacial shear strenght.
Wireless Communication in Fire Sport
Pelka, Tomáš ; Mrázek, Vojtěch (referee) ; Vašíček, Zdeněk (advisor)
This work describes the design of wireless timer for fire sport disciplines. Its aim is to replace long wires with wireless communication while preserving equal or better reliability. Important part is the need for clock synchronization between wireless modules. Related topic is selection of suitable synchronization algorithm and communication protocol. The proposed system was realized in form of prototype using Texas Instruments's development platform LaunchPad EXP 430 FR4133 and wireless modules with Texas Instruments's chip CC1101. Parameters of designed system (especially the accuracy of time synchronization and measurement) were verified in laboratory.
Calibration and Exact Characterization of Aerosol Deposit colected by SDI Impactor
Havránek, Vladimír
Ion beam analytical methods as PIXE (Particle induced X-ray emission), PIGE (Particle induced gamma-ray emission) and RBS (Rutherford backscattering spectrometry) are frequently used for elemental analysis of different types of atmospheric aerosol samples in a form of aerosol deposits on thin plastic filters or foils (Alfassi and Peisach, 1991, Johansson and Campbell, 1988). An ideal sample for analysis is thin homogeneous aerosol deposit with known deposit area. However in practice such samples are rare. They are often thick (more than limit for thin target approximation i.e. larger then few hundred micrograms per square centimetres), of irregular shape and unknown deposit area. In such conditions all obtained elemental mass results should be corrected for apparent deposit thickness, deposit homogeneity and effective deposit area.

Capabilities of the PIXE, PIGE and RBS techniques in the studies of moldavites
Havránek, Vladimír ; Mizera, Jiří ; Řanda, Zdeněk
Analytical capabilities of the PIXE, PIGE and RBS ion beam analytical techniques run in a simultaneous mode have been studied on several samples of moldavites. Combining the methods allowed determination of more than 20 major and trace elements. Determination of F and Li by PIGE is of a particular importance, as information about their content in moldavites and other tektites is mostly missing.
